I had a second row seat, best in the Goose, other than the motorman's seat! In case you haven't figured it out, my wife is taking the non-riding photos.
Larry Spencer, our motorman, could tell something was wrong with the brakes, so we stopped at 'Weed City', just prior to Lobato
What is left from the movie Shootout, staring Gregory Peck (1970), the town called 'Weed City'.
If we had to break down, this was the place to have it happen.
A cotter pin parted company with one of the brake pads.
"WE" actually found the missing part a mile to two down the hill from Weed City.
The Goose had to back all the way back to Chama. I asked to be dropped off here a the east end of the Narrows, since my wife Susan was following me in our vehicle.
A cotter pin was secured and the brakes were fixed that evening
The next morning, loading the passengers in from of the Chama Station.
Larry making final adjustments to the brakes.
